Apple iPhone: Apple is currently looking at new ways to charge its six generation iPhone without the need for cables.

Its still unclear as to what method of iPhone charging Apple is working on, but induction charging might be a preferred way, allowing you to place your iPhone on a charging pad to top up your battery. This new method of charging and Apple’s new cloud storage might see the end of sync cables and docks.

Investors expect a bigger boost to Apple’s phone business next year. People briefed on Apple’s plans said the company is planning a major iPhone revamp then, with one person saying the company has been experimenting with features such as a new way of charging the phone.

The Game Boy iPhone 4 case is available in a range of funky colors which include yellow, orange, white, black, red and blue, and we think this is the most realistic Game Boy style case we have featured so far.

Obviously this case hasn’t been officially licensed by Nintendo, so we doubt it will be available for sale for very long, if you want one they are available for $8.90 each from Etsy

AT&T is unable to unlock the existing iPhone 4 for you.

Apple started selling an unlocked iPhone 4 in the US earlier today, it is the GSM version which has previously been available with mobile operator AT&T, and now it seems that AT&T is unable to unlock the existing iPhone 4 for you.

According to @chronicwire, and Mike for Gadgetsteria, who have both contacted AT&T, the company has said that they are unable to unlock any iPhone 4′s at this time.

It isn’t clear whether this applies to iPhone 4′s that are still under the AT&T contract or ones that are out of the contract, or both so we are not sure whether AT&T will offer the option for devices to be unlocked in the future.

Hasbro Announces My3D, 3D Goggles For Your iPhone/iPod

If you grew up in the seventies, you might remember a toy known as a Viewmaster.

If you don’t remember it, it sort of looked like this My3DNow that you see here, except instead of sticking an iPhone in front of the binocular viewer, you stuck this circular reel, and you could see still images in 3D.

I guess since many people are demanding 3D for their movies and home content, it was only a matter of time before someone perfected it for the iPhone. If nothing else, this should tide you over until the iPhone does get a glasses-free 3D screen. (I’m sure that will happen eventually if these glasses-free 3D mobile phone screens make it big.)

The plan for the My3DNow is to get programs with 3D content on the iPhone, and then view it with these along with headphones. I wonder how Avatar will look on these, but it will probably not be as good as the theater.

If you want to get the My3DNow from Hasbro, then you should be able to get to Target on April 3rd for a price of about $35. If you want, you can get more information and even possibly pre-order it at My3DNow.com.

White iPhone Is Coming This Spring June 2011 | Release Date & Review

The news surrounding the new upcoming Apple iPhone 5 and its release date is getting very hot under the collar to say the least and if all true a June release date is looking good.

The Motley Fool on MSNBC is reporting that the iPhone 5 will be available from June 20, 2011. We all know that the white iPhone 4 is releasing June 20th and Apple Marketing Phil Schiller verified this via Twitter. Now the question is will they release the white iPhone 4 or a new iPhone 5? Just a simple question we felt we should ask.

Apparently the iPhone 5 will come to Market June 20, we all know that Apple WILL NOT release at the white iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5 at the same time and considering Apple always releases a new iPhone in June we are suspecting it will be a new smartphone and not just a new colour, we could be wrong but we are only going on past releases.

Looking at other news covering the new iPhone 5 comes via MacRumors by way of China Times Reports (via GadgetsDNA) showing new photos of the metal chassis, MacRumors titled it article “iPhone 5 Due in Q3, 4-Inch Screen, Metal Chassis?”

China Times Reports the metal chassis and suggests that this new metal rim will help with signal as it will be the main antenna sensitivity, it will also be a 4-inch touchscreen smartphone. It is looking like the iPhone 5 will look like the iPhone 4 so not much in the way of design change here.

Solar Powered iPhone

So, I take my cell phone with me no matter where I go. I consider it a luxury, but I also like to think that I would have it with me in the case of an emergency, like when my brand new car broke down this morning, and I was stuck on the side of the highway. Oh I had my phone alright, but the battery was dead, and the charger was in my other (and I guess, better) car.

Well that wont ever happen to any of us again if Apple has it’s way. According to U.S. patent reports, Apple wants to be able to incorporate solar cells into some of their touch screen products. Can anyone say iPhone 5? Okay, can anyone say iPhone 6 then? Anyway, let’s imagine if you will, the premise of throwing your phone up on the dashboard and having it be ready to go anytime you need it. Awesome.

The Cupertino giants have a better idea for solar-charging than just sticking a whole bunch of ugly solar panels on the back of their iDevices, the plan seems to be to put energy collecting cells hidden underneath the ever popular touchscreen display. So the hope would be that the iPhone won’t look much different, but would be able to charge itself cord-free!

In fact, a couple of companies have already waved around some prototypes of solar powered phones quite a while ago, but they’re not here yet, and when a company like Apple starts talking solar, I say let the sun shine in. Apple's iPhone and iPad to push app sales beyond $15bn in 2011

Sales of applications for iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices are forecast to exceed $15bn (£9.4bn) this year.

Downloads of popular games, such as Angry Birds and Doodle Jump, are expected to lead to a near-tripling of global app sales, according to research firm Gartner.

Stephanie Baghdassarian, research director at Gartner, said the big rise in expected sales from $5.2bn in 2010 was due to the popularity of the iPad and other tablet computers.

"Something massive has happened," she said. "It's called the iPad, and all of its little brothers and sisters and cousins that are copying Apple."

Ms Baghdassarian said apps are "by far" the fastest-growing sector of the telecoms and technology industry.

Apple, which launched the first app store in the summer of 2008, still dominates the industry, controlling an estimated nine out of 10 of all app sales

White iPhone 4 paint issues fixed, is it time for it to hit the market?

Apple’s white iPhone 4 has started showing up in various carriers’ stock handling systems recently throughout the world but it has been unclear whether it was a mistake or white iPhone really is coming soon. Actually Apple is delaying the white version until Spring 2011 due to ‘manufacturing problems’. According to sources at the time the painting of the handset with a white color was proving more difficult than Apple had hoped with producing a uniform color being the main problem.

Now though, the issue has been resolved by a small company in Japan.

According to Macotakara, the unknown company has developed a new type of paint that can be applied in a more uniform way than before. This means more uniform colors, which in turn means a happy Apple quality controller.

According to a source, specified printing white color for iPhone 4 brings poor yield and then huge number of defective products. This is the reason of disturbing to start manufacturing, a source said.

To solve this problem, a Japanese company developed miracle painting material which is able to be set thickness of painting layer.

For those who are still on a wait for White iPhone, I say what you need now is a pill of patience. With no official news from Apple we can just wait and see.

How to unlock an iPhone with a ring

I’ve recently got a Motorola Droid X phone (which I will probably review later on this site), and I found that getting yourself a smartphone with a pure touchscreen interface can lead a user to all kinds of security issues.

After all, the screen will activate with any touch, and so anyone with a finger can access my e-mail and possibly the important information available there.

A man named Michael Knuepel has come up with a way to make an iPhone screen accessible with a secret ring. It sounds like something from a spy movie (a bad one) but he’s perfected the proof of concept, as seen in the video after the jump.

I’m not certain how the ring works. Perhaps there is some sort of chip in there that sends a message to the iPhone that the “key is in the lock” so to speak. It reminds me of the days when messages had to be sealed with wax and a specially molded ring.

Granted, the ring in the video looks like something that only Green Lantern would wear, but if it could be put on a normal-sized ring, like a wedding ring or class ring, then we have a marketable iPhone accessory with the bonus of some added mobile phone security!

Skype’s updated app one-ups Apple with mobile video chat

Skype has launched a video chat feature for their iPhone app which adds 3G capability, as well as being able to chat with iPhone 3GS users in a limited one way video basis.

Users who have the iPhone 4 or 4th generation iPod Touch can initiate video calls with friends who use the iPhone 3GS, iPad, and 3rd Generation iPod Touch, while 3rd Gen Apple device users can only receive the video chat and while talking audio only. Mac Desktop users can also jump into the fray using the Skype client.

But what’s really challenging to Apple’s Facetime dominance is that Skype can video chat over 3G, not just WiFi only. And according to Red Ferret, the data usage isn’t too bad, chiming in at about 1.3MB per minute.

Frankly, I’m amazed that Apple approved this update, but it may be that they’ll be announcing a “one more thing” update next month that will do the same.
